20 July 2021. The European Space Agency has signed a contract with a European consortium to provide end-to-end responsive space transportation services. We’re pleased to announce that ScotSpace Ltd and the Prestwick Spaceport will act as the logistics, integration and operations support hub for the Scottish launch sites of the project, in addition to providing access to local launch services.

The full Consortium Press Release can be found here.

Orbital Resources and Microgravity

The focus here is on commercial applications of microgravity and other environmental resources such as sunlight, pressure, radiation, temperature and electromagnetic gradients. In addition to the orbital resources, we intend to provide microgravity using suborbital and atmospheric platforms, the latter in the form of both dedicated aircraft and drones. Microgravity is a resource in itself for research, manufacturing and process development, but our microgravity activities are also in support of the future human spaceflight capabilities of the Prestwick Spaceport and elsewhere.

Much more to come soon…

The NERV Initiative™ for Space Industrialisation and Planetary Defence – NERV.space

A think tank, intelligence service, educational and R&D consultancy.

Our objectives are:

to provide operational support to democratise access to space for utilitarian and commercial purposes, and to leverage responsive NewSpace operations to mitigate risks and threats to space assets and to Earth;

to inform the general public about the impact of the NewSpace industry on society, the planet and beyond, today and tomorrow, as well as the risks posed by the solar system environment itself;

to pursue applied life and physical space science research in support of, and to develop engineering solutions for, space industrialisation and planetary defence;

to utitilise and further develop advanced simulation, telepresence and virtual human interfaces, virtual twins, intelligent agents and other virtual technologies for NewSpace operations, training, education and outreach.

The Skool Community

This is a community both for those who already work in the NewSpace industry, and anyone interested in space and the future of humanity in the universe.

We’ll keep pushing the frontiers of space science and technology, but always guided by the evidence. Naturally we’ll also be inspired by science fiction in order to speculate about the future of terrestrial and extraterrestrial civilisation, and occasionally venture into philosophy and history as well. Our educational and outreach mission is perhaps our most important one, and science fiction, in all media, is a great way to examine possible and impossible futures. And yes, we’re obviously Otaku (IYKYK).

This is the place for deep thinking, deep science, deep tech, deep futures! But we won’t lose sight of the business side of the NewSpace economy either.

The NERV Initiative™ is hosted by ScotSpace Ltd. of the UK.

We regularly take part in planetary defence simulations such as the Hypothetical Asteroid Impact Scenario at the annual Planetary Defence Conference. The 2021 edition can be found here:
